Praise & Thanksgiving
It never ceases to amaze me how God moves in and through his people in uncertain and trying times. Friends, we have so much to celebrate, so much to be grateful for.
God has blessed us with an amazing outdoor space with mature shade trees. We’ve been able to worship in an outdoor socially-distanced setting since June 7. Our back lawn has become a place that the community regularly uses for outdoor recreation and relaxation. Because of this, there’s an established comfort level for our first-time guests who are familiar with the property, and we’ve had several families from the community join us for worship on Sunday mornings.
We have a fantastic team of dedicated leaders and volunteers who have selflessly served throughout this pandemic. From Zoom council meetings to creating signage; from fixing the irrigation system to running sound; these servant-hearted leaders truly bless our church.
We’ve been so blessed by our partnership with St. John’s in Orange and thank God for their continued prayer and support. Join us in praying for our brothers and sisters at St. John’s, specifically lifting up the ways our congregations can continue to work together for the sake of God’s mission.
I’ve been blown away by your invitation of friends, family, and neighbors.
Before the pandemic, our average worship attendance was around 34 people a Sunday. Since re-launching public worship outside, we’ve seen sustained growth. During August, we averaged over 110 people each week. The last Sunday in August saw our largest number, with 132 people joining us for worship. Each of these people has a story, and God has brought them here for such a time as this. Make sure to welcome everyone you meet warmly; it could make an eternal impact.
As Peace continues to grow, it will be more important than ever to get involved.
I once had a mentor tell me that his motto for life was, “if you’re not dead, you’re not done.”
I believe this sentiment applies to all of us today. In this next season, it’s going to take each of us playing our unique part. I want to invite you to pray for the mission God has given Peace as it reaches out to Tustin’s community and beyond with the Gospel in both word and deed. Next, pray about how God would use you to help advance that mission. Remember, God has chosen to accomplish His mission through you, his disciples.
Guest Services
We are looking to add to our Guest Services teams. Studies have shown that guests make up their minds about returning to a church within the first few minutes of being on the property. Because of this, we are looking for volunteers who would be willing to serve one or more Sundays a month as entrance, parking lot, or sidewalk greeters and ushers. These important frontline teams provide a hospitable environment as they offer a warm welcome and friendly farewell to guests.
Facility & Campus Maintenance
We need folks willing to work with their hands and are compiling a list of maintenance and facility improvement projects that will take place over the next year. We will also be updating some of the audio/visual equipment in the sanctuary.
Life Groups
At Peace, we believe that life is better when shared, so we are launching Life Groups this fall. Life Groups are small groups of 8-12 people who meet weekly from October Sept. 13 – Oct. 18, 2020, some of which may choose to continue to meet afterward. These video-based conversational bible studies will happen over Zoom digitally and follow along with the Sunday sermon series. We are also looking for a few people to HOST these groups. If you would like to host (Have a heart for people, start the zoom session, play the video), it is easy! We will provide all the tools and training!

These are exciting times to be a part of all that God is doing through Peace as it continues to reach out to the community with the love and message of Jesus. I’m thankful for each of you, your prayers, support, and commitment to God’s mission.
