2/14: Ash Wednesday
Preacher: Nathan Huse
Passage: 1 Peter 1:8‒12
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of our Lenten journey with Jesus to His cross and empty tomb. In this way, it also reminds us of our earthly journey, from birth, rebirth in our Baptisms, through all the events of our lives, and finally to the inheritance prepared for us in heaven. May God graciously and abundantly give us His Holy Spirit enabling us to grow this Lent in our yearning for eternity and our love for Jesus, our Savior.
Song Suggestion: Jesus, We Love You
2/21: Calling Us Home – 1 Peter
Preacher: Nathan Huse
Passage: 1 Peter 1:15-17
As God is calling us home, He is calling us to be holy, not just do holy things. Take God’s own holiness to heart and you’ll be filled with a very special kind of fear, the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord leaves us in wondering awe that God comes to make us completely holy, wholly holy.
2/28: Calling Us Home – 1 Peter
Preacher: Nathan Huse
Passage: 1 Peter 2:9-10
As we gather this evening: Ask yourself if we, the people of our church, are different from the rest of the world. In Gethsemane the first disciples showed themselves sadly normal. Instead of watching with Jesus, they slept. Instead of staying with Him, they fled. Pray that this evening’s worship will remind us that we followers of Jesus aren’t like the “normal” people of our world. In fact, you could say that we are “peculiar”.
3/6: Calling Us Home – 1 Peter
Preacher: Nathan Huse
Passage: 1 Peter 2:20‒25
Sometimes your journey home includes suffering because you’re following Jesus, not running with the crowd. We are, after all, “peculiar” people. When you hear God calling you to endure as your Savior did, you actually rejoice in suffering for Him who saves you.
Song Suggestion: It is Well
3/13: Calling Us Home – 1 Peter
Preacher: Nathan Huse
Passage: 1 Peter 3:8‒17
Imagine what can happen if your life is a blessing to all people, including people whom you find difficult and unpleasant. Pray that your worship this evening will be used by God to motivate you to live that kind of life, blessed and blessing. “Bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.”
3/20: Calling Us Home – 1 Peter
Preacher: Nathan Huse
Passage: 1 Peter 5:6‒11
Where are you in your journey through life? Pray that this evening’s service and sermon will move you to an ever-increasing conscious dependence upon God’s grace to bring you safely to your heavenly home.
